Pozzuoli - "Discovering ancient Puteoli"

Pozzuoli, in the heart of the Campi Flegrei, was a large port and commercial emporium of the late Republican and Roman imperial period. The first settlement was founded in 528 BC. by a group of exiles from the island of Samos, with the name of Dicearchia (i.e. right government). After the Roman conquest of Campania, Puteoli, so renamed due to the numerous sources of thermo-mineral waters present in the area, began to gain importance and its port became fundamental for the commercial exchanges of the time. Chosen as a holiday destination by emperors, today it is an important tourist center, known for the magnificence of its monuments.

The tour will start from the Flavian Amphitheater, the third largest in the Roman world, built on the upper area of ​​the town, and then make a stop at the spectacular Rione Terra, the oldest area of ​​the town, where it will be possible to enter the wonderful Cathedral of San Procolo , schedule of the history of that hill.
